Kalogerakis Inc. is a family business that has been operating within the dairy sector in Crete, since 1949. By maintaining our passion and with respect to Cretan tradition, we have succeeded in becoming over the years one of the largest dairies in Crete, always faithful to our 'family' character. We collect daily the freshest milk with the aid of 550 cooperating farmers across the Cretan countryside, summing annually to the highest production rate of sheep and goat milk. Consistent to its expansion strategy, Kalogerakis Inc. transfers and processes from every corner of Crete, up to 60 tons of milk per day, to its owned modernized facilities that cover 25,000 square meters at Smari, Kastelli. This allows us to process daily up to 100 tons of milk. Constantly looking at the global food trends, respecting the tradition and committed to quality, we create pure, authentic and rich nutrient value products. Our products go through constant monitoring and meet the standards of 'quality assurance systems' as well as ISO 22000:2005 HACCP, supported on an ongoing-basis by external consultants, partners and accredited laboratories, in order to catch up with the modern requirements and nutritional needs of the Greek family. The second generation Mr Bert Destrooper takes care of its international growth! “Belgian Butters” invests annually in research and development. Our sales team constantly attracts new markets for growth with the intention to get as close to our customers as possible! We currently employ 80 permanent production employees. The production area was extended to a total surface area of 16000m2. In total, there are 12 ovens on the production lines and 8 lines in the chocolate section. In 1902, Basil Weixler laid the foundation for today’s Bergader Privatkäserei by opening a small cheese dairy in his village. With his keen sense of popular tastes, he developed a cheese similar to Roquefort in the 1920s. The name he chose for this cheese - Bavarian Mountain Roquefort - resembled the French cheese type too obviously, though. While Basil Weixler lost the lawsuit that followed, he became popular thanks to the detailed press coverage of his case. He launched Bergader Edelpilz, a cheese that has not been modified since then. Creativity and innovation characterised the company from its founding years through the 1960s, when many innovative products were developed. When Bavaria blu was launched in 1972, the company managed to create the epitome of a new generation of blue mould cheeses. Bergader was the first German cheese dairy to receive the “Goldener Zuckerhut” in 1979, a sought-after award in the food industry, for this corporate achievement. Today, Bergader is the market leader in Germany for deli counter products, increasingly entering the self-service-shelf market. The company’s success is based on the concept of offering top-quality specialties. And one thing will never change: Bergader has been and will always be family-owned.

The Bauer company was founded in 1887 by Franz Seraph Bauer and was named Bauerschweizer-Käsewerk at that time. Since then, a lot has changed: Today, Bauer is one of the leading manufacturers in the German fruit yoghurt and cheese sector and produces more then 300 different fresh products and more than 30 cheese varieties. One thing, however, is still the same as 125 years ago: Bauer is managed by the Bauer family - in its fifth generation in the meantime.
