Alsea is a multi brand restaurant operator which was founded in 1990 in Mexico. Alsea manages many chains in the fast food, casual dining and cafeteria sector. It’s first franchise was Domino’s Pizza, which it launched in 1990. Since 1999, Alsea is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange.
Nowadays, Alsea operates 4494 restaurants across the world. Alsea does not only operate in Latin American countries like Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Uruguay but also in Europe in countries such as Spain, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Alsea achieved a turnover of € 2.05 billion in 2018, highlighting the fact that its turnover has grown by 14.3% compared to 2017. The firm employs over 85000 people currently.

Alsea acquired the franchise rights for Starbucks in Mexico in 2002 and in 2005, the firm took over 9 Chili’s restaurants in the country.
Alsea ventured on the international market for the first time in 2006 when it acquired the franchise rights for Burger King in Argentina and Chile. In 2008, the business entered Colombia.
In 2014, Alsea took over the Spanish firm Zena and through this company, it went on to acquire the franchise VIPs in Spain. Furthermore, it also bought El Porton. Alsea also launched The Cheesecake Factory.
In 2019, Starbucks reached an agreement with Alsea, giving the latter the legal rights to develop the Starbucks franchise and brand in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg
