Cojean
Founded in 2001 by Alain Cojean and based in France, Cojean is a restaurant chain specialising in high-end fast food with the preparation of salads, sandwiches, fruit juices and hot dishes, available for eat in or take away.
Apart from healthy, greedy and chic food, Cojean got the unique idea of merging 2 kitchen types to have its own creation. Customers can serve themselves from the aligned fridge or sit and feast their hot cooked meal served by the expert team.
With a workforce of 500 people, the company achieves a turnover of around € 19 million.
In 2012, Vogue named Cojean as one of the 10 best “healthy cuisine” addresses in Paris.
Cojean offers a wide range of meals such as salads, soups, sandwiches, lasagna, risotto, vegetables, gluten free cakes and foods, desserts, yoghurt, fruit juice as well as vegetable juice, etc. In total, Cojean’s menu consists of more than 250 products on offer.
The restaurant chain offers vegetarian, vegan, and lactose-free meals as well. Additionally, 100% of the desserts are without animal gelatin.
The company holds certifications such as organic, Ecocert, and Fair Trade. Moreover, Cojean is very peculiar about the quality of its products, hence 31% of purchase ingredients for restaurants are bio, 100% of drinks are bio and the chicken is clean label.
Cojean is looking for brands of foods and drinks but also wants to work with suppliers who can provide it with products for its private label.
The firm is also looking for products under the following categories:
- Savory Grocery: seasonings, rice, pasta, pasta, oils, crisps, snacks, tamari sauce, sesame oil, black olives and nuts.
- Drinks: soft drinks, carbonated soft drinks, innovative drinks
- Sweet Grocery: bread and industrial pastries
- Frozen Food: frozen fish, seafood, fruits & vegetables
The firm delivers over 55,000 full meals each year. Furthermore, since 2010, the remaining food is given to 2 associations mainly La Chorba and Les Camions des restos du coeur. Since 2015, the food has been delivered by vehicles powered with natural gas, causing less noise and pollution.
With regards to the environment, Cojean indulges in several measures such as 100% recycled plastic, 85% eco-designed packaging, 5-flow sorting, privileged local sourcing, etc. Furthermore, the firm redistributes unsold items to associations in France, such as The Nourish Love to Give Foundation.
Cojean donates 10% of its profits to its foundation, Nourrir Aimer Donner, created to fight poverty and to contribute to the sustainable development of the poorest communities worldwide.
