Elior, a catering business, was founded in 1991 in France by Francis Markus and Robert Zolade. The company has established a good position following more than 25 years of experience in 22 700 restaurants. Elior now operates not only in France but also in the UK, Spain, Italy, India and the US, becoming the reference in the HoReCa sector.
Clients include hospitals, universities, nurseries, etc. Elior ensures that it provides a range of dishes and services based on each client’s requirements. In the case of the healthcare sector, Elior works with experts, dieticians and chefs in order to offer healthy choices. For the educational sector, Elior is a leader who ensures that nutritious meals are prepared.
Elior Services, an added service provided by Elior, was launched and provides biological cleaning, facility management and hospitality services.
Nowadays Elior is recognised as the leading contract catering company in France but also in Spain and Italy.
In 2021, Elior took over Nestor, a meal delivery business which used to serve individual customers. Through this acquisition, Nestor will now be delivering to businesses.
In 2020, Elior reached a turnover of €3.69 billion. There are 99 000 people who are currently working for the company.
Elior also ensures that all suppliers and producers it works with are respectful of animal welfare and the environment. Furthermore the company prioritizes local, organic and labelled products.
In May 2018, Elior signed an agreement with Mr.Goodfish as the latter provides fish and seafood products from sustainable fishing.
As part of its goal to become a fully sustainabe company, Elior aims to use only cage-free eggs by 2025.
