EXKi was founded in 1999 by Frederic Rouvez, Nicolas Steisel and Arnaud de Meeus. Based in Belgium, the restaurant chain has expanded rapidly in Europe. In 2001, the first EXKi restaurant opened in Brussels. The firm offers a wide range of healthy, balanced recipes which are prepared with top quality, fresh and natural ingredients.
The company owns restaurants in 6 countries such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
The restaurant also provides the option for online orders.
Currently, EXKi owns around 107 restaurants globally.
With a workforce of 20 people, the business achieved a revenue of € 6.5 million in 2020.
In 2012, EXKi won the Best Food and Beverage Retail Concept award. Similarly, in 2002, the company won the "Best Concept" award from MAPIC. In 2016, the EXKi brand was awarded “Best Fruit and Vegetable Fast Food Service Project” by Gault & Millau.
Several dishes such as salad, sandwiches, hot meals, etc are available on the menu. In the drinks category, the restaurant offers hot beverages and juices.
The company sources its products from suppliers who are certified bio and Fairtrade. Some of its suppliers include Café liégeois, Spa and Tao.
Furthermore, 40% of EXKi's products are certified organic or derived from responsible sources such as MSC cod, certified chicken, etc. The Fairtrade coffee and teas that are offered are also 100% organic.
With regards to the environment, EXKi has reduced the amount of plastic used in the restaurants by 83%. Additionally, the business chooses recycled and recyclable materials. EXKi also partners with Lampiris, which provides the restaurants with green electricity, gas, and co2 logic to offset carbon emissions.
