Foodcase International
Foodcase International BV is a Netherlands-based food and beverage solutions provider for the travel industry, specialising in on-board catering products for airlines. Founded in 2011 by Joleen van Wijk and Wilbert de Louw, the company is headquartered in Wageningen — home of Wageningen University & Research, one of the world's leading food-science institutions, with which it collaborates on R&D — and operates additional offices in Bangkok, serving Asia, and Montreal, serving North America. It positions itself as an independent, one-stop destination for travel F&B, serving more than 50 international clients, predominantly in the airline sector.
Foodcase designs, sources and delivers complete on-board food concepts across ambient, chilled and frozen formats. Its range runs from snacks, pastries and boxed meals to fully developed ready meals and specialised dietary options (including vegetarian, vegan and religious or allergen-specific requirements), covering all cabin classes from economy buy-on-board programmes to premium dining. The company handles the full chain from concept development and recipe design through manufacturing, packaging and logistics to final delivery for airline and rail caterers.
Rather than manufacturing itself, Foodcase procures from a global network of more than 400 manufacturing partners across Asia, EMEA and North America, making it a significant and genuinely international buyer of ambient, chilled and frozen food products, snacks, bakery and beverages suited to travel-catering specifications (long shelf life, portioned formats, weight and packaging constraints). It emphasises future-focused innovation in frozen and ambient production, sustainability improvements in waste and plastics, and a growing focus on plant-based alternatives.
The company is ISO 22000 certified for food safety and has won multiple industry awards on leading travel-catering platforms. With a compact team of around 16 people and a turnover in the low single-digit millions of euros (2023), Foodcase operates as a specialised intermediary: for food manufacturers, it offers a route into the airline and wider travel-catering channel worldwide; for airlines and their caterers, it consolidates a fragmented supplier base into a single, quality-assured partner covering everything from snack boxes at 30,000 feet to specialised dietary meal programmes.
