Foodco

Established by an Emiri Decree in 1979, Foodco is an importer and distributor of tasty, healthy and fairly-priced products. Its headquarters is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company is considered as the supplier of choice by major retailers across the UAE. 

Concerning its distribution channels, the business distributes its products to government institutions, supermarkets and wholesalers as well. Its clients include Lulu Group International, Carrefour, Union Co-op, Nesto Group, Sharjah Co-op, Grand Hypermarket and many more. 

Foodco achieves an annual turnover of €74 million and has a dedicated team of around 500 employees. 

It is noteworthy that Foodco’s own brand “Shehrazade” was voted “Product of the year” by Superbrands UAE in 2022. 

Moreover, the enterprise offers a wide variety of products in the following categories: 

• Sweet grocery: muesli, chocolates, cereals, etc. 
• Savoury grocery: rice, pastas, noodles, etc. 
• Drinks: juices, water, energy drinks, etc. 
• Chilled and fresh: fruits and vegetables. 
• Frozen: vegetables, meat, waffles, etc. 
• Dairy: eggs, milk, cheeses, etc. 
• Personal care: shampoos, mouthwash, makeup removers, etc. 
• Household: tissue papers, detergents, air fresheners, etc. 

Brands such as Coca Cola, Nescafe, Lipton, Pepsi, Schweppes, Kraft, Anchor, Kleenex, Veet, Listerine, Aquafresh and many others are endorsed by the firm. 

In addition to its brands, Foodco also offers its own brands under the following names (non–exhaustive list):

• Virginia: This brand consists of products such as spaghetti, canned goods, oils, etc. 
• Shehrazade: This brand includes products such as rice and saffron.
• Al Safwa: A line of rice and cooking oils. 
• Golden Gate: A line dedicated to rice. 
• Wrap N’ Roll: A brand dedicated to biodegradable garbage bags, cling film and aluminium foils. 

Pertaining to its logistics solutions, Foodco’s subsidiary 5PL Logistics Solutions provides it support through its high-tech temperature controlled facility and a fleet of state-of-the-art vehicles. The facility currently has an area of 11,000 m2, however, the firm is planning to add an additional 35,000 m2 soon. Moreover, its fleet of vehicles are chilled, ambient and frozen, hence, allowing the importer to deliver all types of products to its customers. 

In January 2023, Foodco’s private label “Shehrazade” broke the Guiness record for the heaviest bag of rice. Its private label “Shehrazade” is the company’s flagship since its launch.
