Geia Food, an importer of food and drinks, launched in 2014 in Denmark, resulting from a merger between Afrost and Mortenson Food.
Furthermore, Geia Food operates offices in Finland, Sweden and Norway as well.Â
So far, Geia Food provides 2000 references in various food categories.Â
Clients consist mainly of retail chains such as Bilka, Irma, Kiwi, Spar, 7 Eleven and Rema1000.
In 2019, Geia Food acquired BM Food, a Norwegian importer. The new acquisition will strengthen Geia Food’s presence in Norway.
During the same year, Geia Food also acquired Danton Trading, an importer and producer of Greek food items including yoghurt, hummus, etc. Danton Trading is based in Denmark.
In 2022, Geia Food bought Lauge Food Selection and Camsac-Lauge Seafood as well as Food Partner’s world.
Geia Food achieved a turnover of €255 million in 2020, indicating a major increase of 56.4% compared to the previous year. In Denmark, the business grew by 12% in 2020. At present, there are 75 people working for Geia Food.Â
Geia Food acquired Tilab International, a company that offers private label products, in 2018.
The company distributes products in the following categories:
- Savory Grocery: Pasta, Sauces, Pesto, Oils, etc.
- Drinks: Juices, energy drinks, mineral water, wine, spirits,etc.
- Dairy: a variety of dairy products including cheese
- Frozen Food: Ice-cream, ready meals, vegetables, etc.
- Chilled & Fresh Food: Chicken, Duck, Seafood, Meat, etc.

The company distributes brands such as Finest Seafood, Julius Duck, La Pasta Di Maria, Victor’s and One Energy Drink. Geia Food works with 270 suppliers from different parts of the world.Â
Geia Food has specific requirements for all products. The company is looking for original, high quality items which comply with the EU as well as Denmark legislation. Furthermore, all packing-related products such as pallets can be legally brought in the EU.Â
Furthermore, all products must meet the requirements concerning genetically modified raw materials and ingredients.
Products produced for Geia Food’s private label should be free from GMOs. The exceptions are additives such as romatics or enzymes, animal ingredients from animals fed on gene-sliced feed. No PVC packaging should be used.
In the case of organic products, suppliers should be able to prove that their products have been inspected for organic control by their regional veterinary and food control authorities. This should be done every year.Â
In addition to this, products must abide by the Danish laws on Salmonella Typhimurium DT104. Suppliers should prove with the appropriate certificates that their products are free from this ingredient.Â
Concerning the logistics, the warehouse is located in central Denmark, which allows the company to dispatch products throughout Europe rapidly. There are over 5000 pallets which are handled every week by the company.Â
