Founded in 1870, Holland & Barrett has grown rapidly in the UK as well as other European countries and also internationally.

Nowadays, Holland & Barrett operates over 1600 stores in 18 countries which are either owned by the group or franchisees. These include 66 stores which were launched in 2018. Holland & Barrett operates over 750 stores in the UK.

Holland & Barrett  also operates an online shop and offers over 6000 references. 

In the financial year 2021, Holland & Barrett achieved a turnover of €825 million and it has a dedicated team of over 5,320 employees. Moreover, the company registered a rise of 103% in its online sales. 

Holland & Barrett offers products in the following categories: 

• Sweet Grocery: honey, jam, cereals, coffee, etc.
• Savory Grocery: noodles, herbs, rice, vinegar, sauces, etc.
• Drinks: soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, water, etc.
• Personal Care:hair care, skincare, supplements, etc. 

Brands available include Bragg, Wellman, Slimbiome, Twinings, ManulaPharm, Navitas, etc. 

Holland & Barrett also offers products under its own label, Holland & Barrett, which includes supplements, nuts, etc.

Holland & Barrett aims to become the reference among the “free from” retailers, catering for customers with allergies. In 2016, the company launched a Free From range of  600 products including: 

• Free from dairy
• Free from nuts
• Free from gluten
• Free from egg

95% of the products provided by Holland & Barrett are sourced from suppliers based in the UK and Ireland. 

It must be noted that in the case of beauty care, Holland & Barrett no longer offers products containing SLS and parabens. Furthermore, the business has quit selling products with microplastics and plastic. 

Concerning the logistics, Holland & Barrett operates a warehouse in the UK and 2 in Ireland and the Netherlands.

Holland & Barrett manages its own Natural Health Academy  where its employees are trained in product safety and contraindications for products. Furthermore, there are also programs for employees specialising in sports nutrition, natural beauty, supplements or foods.
