Leopoldo Gross started out as a manufacturer of ties. By the 1970s, the company took over the Uruguay divisions of luxury brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Cardin. 

In the 1980s, Leopoldo Gross ventured in the food industry by importing and distributing food items. Nowadays, Leopoldo Gross provides over 800 references that include both food and non-food items.

Leopoldo Gross achieved a turnover of € 29 million in 2019 and employed a team of 334 people.
