Maphar was founded in 1951 in Morocco. The pharmaceutical importer and distributor, initially known as Copharma, changed its name to Maphar in 1964.
Since 1981, Maphar has been owned by Sanofi and in 2017, Maphar became part of Eurapharma, the healthcare division of CFAO Group after the latter entered a joint venture with Sanofi.
The company has a portfolio of 1,200 pharmaceutical specialties and has around 530 collaborators.
Maphar distributes to around 12000 pharmacies, 55 drug wholesalers, 103 hospitals, 500 private clinics, 25 cosmetics stores and wholesalers, etc. Moreover, it represents 32 leading international partners in Morocco.
Some of the brands that the firm partners with include Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Aspen, Omega Pharma, etc.
Maphar achieved a turnover of € 122 million in 2019 and employed 535 people. It was also recognised as one of the leaders in the retail distribution of pharmaceutical products. In fact, the company experienced a market growth of 14% for 2019.
Furthermore, the business runs its own manufacturing facility in Morocco.
Maphar’s manufacturing facilities are ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified. Furthermore, the company is the sole pharmaceutical company in Morocco which is certified WHO.
Moroever, Maphar’s warehouses occupies a total surface area of 25 670 M². The plant is designed for 75 millions boxes and can hold up to 7,000 pallets. Additionally, the firm manages a sophisticated supply chain and regulatory safety stocks. Maphar also owns a distribution centre in Casablanca.
