Olex
Based in France, Olex is an importer, exporter and distributor which was launched in 1965 by Michel and Henri Daron.
Initially, the firm operated under the name S.A.M as a shipchandler before diversifying and entering the import and export industry with a branch based in Congo. By 1998, S.A.M changed its name to Oleron Export. Since 2016, the company has been operating under the name OLEX.
Nowadays, Olex is present in around 50 countries such as Congo, Mali, Senegal, etc. Well established in Africa, Olex is considering expanding further within the continent. Olex also plans to enter the Middle East.
The importer provides over 40000 references in the food and non-food categories. Olex supplies around 40 clients which include retailers, catering companies, whole importers, supermarkets, ship handlers, armed forces, etc.
Olex also provides marketing services, product labelling in different languages as well as repackaging services.
In 2015, Olex reached a turnover of € 16.5 million.
Olex offers a wide range of products in the following categories:
- Drinks: water, juices, sodas, beers, wines, etc.
- Savory Grocery: canned foods, sauces, pasta, etc.
- Sweet Grocery: chocolate, industrial pastries, biscuits, etc.
- Dairy: butter, eggs, cream, cheese, etc.
- Chilled & Fresh Food: meat, seafood, vegetables, etc.
- Frozen Food: meat, fish, vegetables, desserts, etc.
- Personal Care: face care, oral care, nail care, etc.
- Household: dishwash, laundry care, disinfectant, disposables, etc.
Olex also offers a wide range of halal products.
Some of the brands it provides include Berni, Markal, Haagen Dazs, Betty Crocker, Old El Paso, etc.
Olex collaborates with 200 suppliers such as Leader Price. Olex provides a wide range of French brands and also imports from various countries including USA and Spain.
Olex provides the necessary import documentation such as certificates of origin and phyto-sanitary certificates.
Olex is ISO 9001 certified.
Olex supports ASI, an association helping underprivileged girls in Congo through their program with a guarantee of finding them a decent job when they’re old enough to work.
