OVS was founded in 1972 in Italy. It was first known as Magazzini Oviesse and was initially a clothing shop. The company was previously a subsidiary of Coin Group until 2015 when it was quoted on the Italian Stock Exchange.

Since the 70s, it has been operating as a department store and it currently has over 1285 stores countrywide as well as in 35 countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia. They can be found in city centres, residential areas and shopping malls.

Every year, nearly 150 million people visit its shops. It also has an online store. 

In 2021, OVS achieved a turnover of €1.1 billion and employed a total of 6867 associates.

Additionally, OVS has diversified by offering products in the household and personal care category such as perfumery, cosmetics and leather products.

OVS also sells products from several brands including Everlast, Maui, GAP. Piombo and many more.

Furthermore, OVS created a brand known as Shaka Innovative Beauty which is devoted to perfumes and cosmetics which are of good quality and they are all produced in Europe.
