Schenkel is a family owned importer, wholesaler and distributor founded in 1883 by Heinrich Schenkel. The company specialises in distributing high quality delicatessen specialties from around the world to Austria. Schenkel grew drastically when the founder’s son took over after WW1. It is headquartered in Klosterneuburg.
Schenkel deals with local clients including retailers, wholesalers and parts of the horeca sector. A few examples are Billa Corso, Merkur Hoher Markt, Metro and Mpreis.
Schenkel currently employs 25 people in total.
Schenkel provides a range of products in the following categories:
- Savory Grocery: olives, oil, soy sauce, etc.
- Sweet Grocery: chutney, nougat, marmalade, etc.
- Fresh and Chilled Food: caviar, mussels, salmon, etc.

Schenkel works with various brands such as Siam, Mackays, Kikkoman, Geeta’s, Beaufor, etc. The company imports its goods from over 30 countries including France, India, Japan and many more.
Schenkel owns a private label named Schenkel Delikatessen, under which it provides many food items like salmon, caviar, olives, mussels, rice, quinoa, truffle and many more.
Schenkel provides delivery through its own fleet of vehicles to Vienna and surrounding areas. The enterprise partners with third party delivery companies to deliver to other regions in Austria.
