Sigma Dominicana Lácteos Sosua is a food service provider and a subsidiary of Sigma Alimentos in charge of purchasing for Central American countries and Dominican Republic. The Mexican group Alfa acquired Sigma Dominicana Lácteos Sosua in 2005.
Part of Alfa Group, the company specialises in cold meat and dairy products. It is well-known in the Dominican market offering quality products made up with Dominican raw materials.
The products are sold to supermarkets, retail stores, wholesalers and foodservices countrywide to more than 30,000 clients for e.g Bravo, Plaza lama, Price smart, Princess, Sunscape, Riu, Palladium among others.
The brands which have been on the market for over 72 years cover:
- Cheese (cream cheese, fud cheese etc)
- Spreads (butter and margarine)
- Yogurt (sigma fragola, griego etc)
- Cold meat (sausages, salamis etc)
Its private labels are known under the name of ‘Sosua’ that comprises of cheese, spreads and cold meat, ‘El Sabrosito’ which consists of cheese and spreads only as well as ‘Checo Buena Rico’ which includes only cold meat and ‘Yoplait’ comprising of only yoghurt.
Moreover, it has two manufacturing plants, one for cold meat and one for dairy products, situated in Santiago and Sosua respectively.
Coming to its logistics, the latter has six distribution centers and more than 150 sales routes. In addition, it has more than 30,000 point of sales.
According to the website Hoydigital, Sosua dairy products has a good image in the Dominican market.
Coming to its commercial structure, it has a down the trade channel with 124 sales routes with 29, 646 clients, an up the trade channel with 10 sales routes and 234 clients, a wholesale channel with 6 sales routes and 274 customers as well as a food service channel having 7 sales routes with 579 customers.
