Founded by Arthur Rawdon Spinney in 1948, Spinneys is a retailer operating in the hypermarket concept. Its headquarters is based in Jdeideh, Lebanon. Previously owned by Spinneys Group, Spinneys Lebanon is now managed by Gray Mackenzie Retail Lebanon (GMRL). 

In addition, the firm operates 16 stores across the country and an online shop as well. Its online shop allows its consumers to shop by their dietary and lifestyle preferences. 

Furthermore, the company achieved the award “Product of the year” for its loyalty program in 2019. 

Spinneys offers a wide assortment of products in the following categories: 

• Frozen Food: ice cream, vegetables, ready-meals, etc.
• Chilled & Fresh Food: charcuterie, cold cuts, fruits, vegetables, etc. 
• Savoury Grocery: spices, canned food, rice, pulses, oil, pasta, etc.
• Sweet Grocery: cereals, jams, sugar, ambient desserts, etc.

Additionally, the company endorses various brands such as Aquafresh, Arcoroc, Axe, Barbie, Baygon, etc. Spinneys also provides gluten-free and organic items for consumers with specific food needs. 

Moreover, Spinneys developed its own brand “Spinneys Food” which comprises almost all product categories. It is positioned as a premium brand, carefully sourced from global and leading local specialised manufacturers. 

Spinneys maintains a high quality standard as it possesses the HACCP Accreditation. 

With regards to the community, the business conducted a campaign in 2019 to raise its sales as 10% of the sales were going to Children’s care centres in Lebanon. Moreover, Spinneys contributes towards the planet as well as it has installed energy saving light bulbs in all its branches and automated power saving mode for computers and printers.
