Supermac's
In 1978, Pat Mc Donagh, a former teacher, set up Supermac’s, a fast food chain in Ireland. The first Supermac’s was launched in Galway. The franchise has grown rapidly relying on its strengths; a menu that stands out, high quality food and service and strong work ethics.
Nowadays, Supermac counts 118 restaurants in Ireland and several franchises across Europe and Australia. People can also order online from the restaurants.
Supermac’s earned its name from the locals. Pat Mc Donagh was nicknamed Supermac by his entourage during the time he used to play football for Carmelite College.
Supermac’s has also launched Claddagh Irish Pubs & Restaurants which operate in the US. There are 11 restaurants under this banner.
Supermac’s also ventured into the hospitality industry and owns several hotels in Ireland including Castle Oaks House Hotel and Charleville Park Hotel. The hotels feature Supermac’s restaurants as well.
Supermac’s also owns The Plaza Group, a chain of service stations which also house several Supermac’s restaurants.
Furthermore, Supermac’s is also the franchisor for the US fast food chain Papa John’s Pizza in Ireland. Supermac’s also manages a new banner Supersubs which is known for its healthy menu options. Both Papa John's Pizza and Supersubs operate within specific Supermac’s restaurants.
Supermac’s achieves an annual turnover of € 82 million and there are over 2700 employees working for the company.
Supermac’s was awarded the Gilbey’s Award for Food Excellence and the Excellence Ireland Hygiene
The company works with suppliers, opting for local ingredients mainly.
