Yumi Ice Cream is a distributor of frozen items which was founded in 1986 in Texas, USA. The owners, Hoss Rafaty and Ali Khosgowari started the business, implementing their previous experience in transport management, to run Yumi Ice Cream. Prior to entering the distribution industry, both businessmen ran a business of taxicabs. 

Yumi Ice Cream distributes over 600 references of frozen foods and drinks to around 15000 clients such as convenience stores, retail chains, pharmacies, bakeries, ethnic markets, schools, hotels, delis, etc. 

Furthermore, Yumi Ice Cream also distributes products and provides freezers and coolers for events such as birthday parties, town festivals, weddings, concerts, entertainment venues, school functions. Some of its clients include Wal-Mart, Randalls, Super S Foods, Brookshires. 

Yumi Ice Cream can cater to both small and large businesses as well as events.

In addition to distributing products to its clients, Yumi Ice Cream also offers maintenance and repair services for the coolers and freezers. Yumi Ice Cream has various types of freezers and coolers fit for any client.

Yumi Ice Cream offers products in the following categories:

• Frozen Food: ice-cream, frozen ready-meals, pastries, vegetables, snacks, etc.

Yumi Ice Cream is the exclusive distributor for the brand Nestle and Haagen Dazs. 

The company also distributes brands such as Simply Beverages, Eggo, Jose Ole, Totino’s, Farm Rich as well as various brands from Unilever.

Concerning the logistics, Yumi Ice Cream operates 4 distribution centres. Each of them is equipped with a walk-in freezer that has a three-tier rack system. The 4 centres make up a total floor area of 44000 sq.ft. Furthermore, each distribution centre has a General Manager who reports to one of the owners, Ali Khosgowari. The warehouses are run by a team of warehouse staff and service technicians.

As for the delivery, Yumi Ice Cream manages a fleet of 160 delivery vehicles which are refrigerated. All vehicles and equipment are high-tech and the drivers have extensive training. The company is concerned about road safety and prior to hiring any driver, the latter has to go through a test designed by Yumi Ice Cream’s owners. 

Yumi Ice Cream is also a member of many associations such as the Texas Association of School Nutrition and the School Nutrition Association. The firm is Smart Snack approved, confirming that it provides a range of healthy snacks to K 12 schools.
