AOP Minervois Château Artix
The Artix Castle is a Cathar castle built in the XIth century. The Artix tenanted farm, upon which lie the current unbroken 80-hectare vineyards, has existed since 1407. It is located just on the edge of "La Liviniere" terroir. The soils are composed of clay and limestone. Because of the cold climate there, the grapes are picked late compared to other Languedoc wine crops. The harvest is manual and environment friendly, so as to optimize grape concentration. These characteristics also provide the wine with ripe, melted dark berry aromas as well as fine, smart tannins. Château Portal's concentration is the fruit of a long, one-month maceration. This wine is dark-coloured with cerise shades. Its smell is a combination of complex, ripe or cooked fruit and liquorice. A well-balanced, silky feeling first embraces the palate, then giving way to a beautiful fruity experience, with fine and ripe tannins.
Blend : 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 25% Carignan Vieilles Vignes (old vines)
