Milk is milk, but not all milk is the same. That’s why we’re also actively involved in organic and biodynamic dairy. Of our 16,000 member dairy farmers, approximately 130 produce organically or biodynamically. We use this milk to make a wide range of organic dairy products. Not just drinking milk, but also yoghurt, custard, butter, coffee creamer and cheese.
Consumers value production method and taste
We sell these products in various countries in Western Europe, in particular under the brands Groene Koe, Zuiver Zuivel and Ecomel. In the Dutch market, we are the largest supplier of organic dairy and the largest processor of organic milk. We know that our consumers take a great interest in how food is produced. They also value the original taste.
EKO quality mark
Organic dairy products differ from standard dairy products because of the way they are produced. The organic production method means that cows are guaranteed outdoor grazing. They also eat organically grown cattle feed and organic dairy farmers do not use artificial fertiliser and pesticides. We collect organic milk separately. The entire chain is certified in accordance with the European rules governing organic products. The products may carry the EKO quality mark. This quality mark shows that the product is of organic origin. It is issued by recognised inspection agencies for organic products, such as Skal in the Netherlands.
Sustainable production
It is not only milk production that is sustainable. Our packaging and factories also contribute to a sustainable society. Our organic milk is packaged in climate-neutral packaging. All CO2 that is produced in the manufacturing process and in transporting the packaging is offset in accordance with the Gold Standard, which is supported by WWF, among others. In addition, the factories processing the organic milk use exclusively green energy.
