Huon Premium Atlantic Salmon
Huon Aquaculture was established over 35 years ago – in Tasmania; Australia.
Tasmania sits at the edge of the wild southern oceans and is famed for its natural environment – over 40% of the state is protected by either national park or world heritage status. It’s our home and where we proudly grow our premium quality fish.
Huon Aquaculture produces around 35,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon each year. Farming for us is about understanding and utilising the best elements of our surrounding environment in a sustainable way. These principles of farming allow us to produce quality and tasty salmon for our customers across the world.
We are stewards of the waterways we farm in, so they can be enjoyed and farmed for generations to come, which is why we have a strong focus on continuous environmental monitoring, investment in research and development and a desire to constantly innovate.
Huon has long been a pioneer of salmon feeding methods and technology. We farm in high-energy sites in the south of Tasmania that are exposed to consistent, challenging weather events, in what is one of the roughest areas in the world to farm.
Huon operates one of the world’s largest wellboats, the Ronja Storm. Our patented Fortress Pens and feed barges work in tandem with the automated feed system to produce the right size fish for your market, while never sacrificing the quality we are known for around the world.
Our salmon Nursery is an Australian first; a land-based facility that enables Huon to grow salmon larger on land before putting them to sea. By growing our salmon to a larger size on land we improve the efficiency of its overall production cycle by reducing the time the salmon spend at sea.
Huon has been exporting for over 20 years. Our strong reputation for constant drive towards excellence means customers demand the freshness, quality and service that only Huon can deliver. Our export markets are a key component of our business.
