Turmeric (Curcuma longa), considered a sacred spice in India, has been cultivated since antiquity. When it arrived in Europe in the 18th century under the name of Indian Saffron, it was used to colour soap. When mixed with indigo, it produces a green tone.

Turmeric is renowned in Ayurvedic medicine for its remarkable anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers.
