The skin and coat of the dog is often exposed to the elements, and to that must be added periods of hair loss. But allergies are also a major cause of skin and fur problems. The variety of causes often makes it difficult to make a clear diagnosis and treat skin problems in the animal. First of all we look at the difference between allergy and atopy. With atopy, the animal reacts allergic to ambient substances such as house mites or pollen that enter the body through the air or the gastro intestinal tract. In case of allergy, the animal makes antibodies against allergens which are actually not needed. In a healthy animal body, these antibodies are only created against pathogenic invaders. An allergic body makes these antibodies with certain proteins in food (food allergy), inhaled substances or materials that come into contact with the skin (contact allergy).
Research has shown that EPA obtained from salmon oil not only has a beneficial effect on allergies, but also on the direct condition of the fur and skin. EPA works anti-inflammatory and supports skin and fur in case of dryness, flakes and itchy red skin. Also dull hair kicks up again. In addition, EPA has an anti-inflammatory effect, which not only helps with skin inflammation, but also with dental problems and motion problems such as osteoarthritis.
Another important component is the pure Scottish salmon oil full of omega fatty acids. This is produced exclusively from by-products of salmon from the Atlantic Ocean (Salmosalar). This salmon is bred in Scottish sea-arms under carefully controlled conditions for human consumption. Therefore the oil quality is constant. The oil retains its internal antioxidant system, because it is released from fresh salmon through a natural process without harmful chemicals or high temperatures. In addition, the product is further stabilised with the natural antioxidant Tocopherol (vitamin E). A special dioxin filtration system ensures that dioxin levels remain well below the legal norm.
The salmon oil contains essential fatty acids omega 3 (19%) and omega 6 (18.7%), but also Omega 9 (39.7%) and therefore it is an excellent source of unsaturated fatty acids (82.8%). Omega 3 ensures a good cell metabolism and brings the cells to rest, which will benefit the fur condition. You can use Skin & Coat to support your dog in case of hair loss, or different hair and skin afflictions. If your quadruped suffers from flakes, dry skin, itching or a dull and dry coat, Skin & Coat can help with recovery.
Furthermore, Skin & Coat contains zinc and vitamin A to support the skin’s ability to repair, regulate excessive talc production and help treat skin horning. Biotin was added to contribute to the preservation of normal skin and hair. Animals lack the ability to make this substance themselves and must extract them from their food. Antioxidants from the added vitamin mix (vitamins A, D3, E and C) slow down the formation of free radicals and make them harmless, which helps protect against cell damage. In short: this mix improves the structure of the skin and quality of the fur, and together with the Scottish salmon oil ensures a healthy, supple and shiny skin and coat.
