Pistaches (Pistachios)
From the Middle East (Iran, Syria and Greece), consumption of pistachios was long reserved for royal dynasties.Pistachio nuts was also the favorite of the Queen of Sheba. She kept all the Assyrian production for own consumption and that of his court.
This royal seed was imported by commercial Americans in the 1880s, first to the central states is then in California. Fairly quickly, pistachio has become a very popular snack in the US, but it was not until 1976 that it was really exploited it.
