Sonata

Genus name (Fragaria) Bred by PRI in Holland, the same breeder of Elsanta, Sonata is a cross between the two strawberry types Elsanta and Polka. A large bright red glossy uniform conical fruit that has a good aroma & taste. Sonata is a little sweeter than Elsanta although not quite as firm with a nice red colour whch does not darken after picking. It's class 1 fruit shape makes it ideal for fresh fruit punnets and as a topping for desserts. Harvests in Spring and again the the Autumn and is suitable for field scale production similar to Elsanta. This year we are growing Sonata on table tops in polytunnels.
