Tethered Caps

By tethered cap, we mean an opening device designed in a way that cannot be detached from the rest of the carton package, unless applying a certain force to separate it from the carton. 

Tethered caps from Tetra Pak offer the same funtionality in terms of opening and pourability as the current range of Tetra Pak openings. 

Tetra Pak is now ready to deploy its portfolio of tethered cap solutions in line with the new SUP EU directive. The portfolio brings numerous benefits to food and beverage manufacturers and consumers, as we build on our vision of the most sustainable food package. For tethered caps, these benefits include minimising litter, as the cap will stay attached to the package. The carbon footprint can also be reduced because the company’s tethered caps are planned to become available as a plant-based option, therefore increasing the renewable content of the package.
