Founded by Apoorva Mehta and Max Mullenin 2012, Instacart is an online shopping platform based in the US. Based in San Francisco, Instacart enables customers to order their products online from the store they prefer. A personal shopper will shop, pack and deliver the products at a scheduled time to the customer’s place. Deliveries are carried out within 1 hour to up to 5 days after ordering.
Instacart serves over 5500 cities in both the US and Canada. So far, around 40000 stores including local grocery shops and retail chains have partnered with the company. Some of them are Sam’s Club, Walmart, M&M Food Market, etc.
Innovation is key at Instacart which is introducing a new delivery, Priority Delivery. Under this new offer, all orders are fulfilled within 30 minutes.
At present, Instacart provides over 500000 references.
In 2020, Instacart achieved a turnover of € 1.3 billion and employed 10000 employees. Shoppers have the option of working full time or part-time and choose which orders they wish to handle, giving them more flexibility regarding their working hours.
In 2015, Instacart was recognised by Forbes as America’s Most Promising company.
