Alphamega

Alphamega, previously known as Charalambides Hypermarket, is a retail chain which was founded in 1958 in Cyprus, when the founder, Mr Charalambides opened his first hypermarket and quickly expanded to become one of the largest hypermarket chains in the country. In 2021, the firm established its e-commerce website. Alphamega has been part of C.A.PAPAELLINAS Emporiki LTD since 1997.

The business consists of 18 hypermarkets as well as an online shop.

Furthermore, Alphamega operates 9 Cafes countrywide under the banner,  Alphamega Cafe & Kitchen, where fresh ready-made meals and coffee are served.

Alphamega employed a total of 1700 people in 2020 and achieved a turnover of about €64.8 million.

Alphamega provides products in the following categories:

• Savory Grocery: noodles, pasta, crisps, etc.
• Sweet Grocery: chocolate, breakfast foods, chewing gum, etc.
• Dairy: yoghurt, cheese, butter, milk, eggs, etc.
• Drinks: water, sodas, energy drinks, beer,etc.
• Chilled & Fresh Food: meat, fish, vegetables, etc.
• Frozen Food: fish, ice-cream, ready-meals, etc.
• Personal Care: face care, skincare, hair care, etc.
• Household: cleaners, dishwash, detergents, etc.

Some of the brands available include Bye-Bye, Alera, Alhambra, Gardenfresh, etc. Alphamega also offers products from Tesco.

Moreover, Alphamega also offers a variety of products under its own brand, Alphamega, which consists of products such as bread, cleaning supplies, charcuterie, eggs, hummus, etc. 

Alphamega sources its products from 365 markets including the French, British and American market.

In addition, Alphamega donated €3.371 to the  Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association. The firm uses reusable bags instead of plastic bags and partnered with Lordos Plastics to help the environment. Alphamega organises an annual cycling route ‘’CYCLING FOR A EURO’’ which raises money and awareness about children’s nutrition and health.
