For the last 25 years, the AWC group of export companies [AWC Australia [Wines], AWC Thai Foods, AWC Seafoods, AWC Wholefoods] has been in the business of consolidating and exporting products, having forged strategic partnerships with a number of large-scale well-known international retail organisations [Walmart, METRO AG, Dairy Farm International etc.] plus a number of locally established retail store groups across Asia and Europe. Combining brands that may not, of their own volition, either due to lack of volume [economic quantity] or lack of export understanding, or simply, lack of resources, to market and promote themselves, has given our company a niche position to bring many brands to markets that would otherwise have little or no chance. The advantages of using an export consolidator also extends to the retailer, as well as the manufacturer, who, by virtue of gaining access to leading edge products on trend, in smaller quantities, doesn’t have to carry too much stock, with attendant risk, and can regularly make shipments to satisfy demand varying products and quantities according to need. The major disadvantage is that forward planning is required due to shipping lead times compared to instantaneous access to local distributors to top up quantities required, usually at a higher cost price, threatening net margin.
Our Group is currently looking to identify suitable strategic partners in various markets to build an introductory channel into their marketplace for the direct supply of exclusive gourmet retail dry foods from Thailand and Australian wines.
Our growth story commenced by chance in 2000 with the opportunity to work in a ‘strategic partnership’ [a phrase conferred upon us] with Dairy Farm Singapore’s Cold Storage Supermarkets, who, having already ascended to be the market leader in premium retail in their geography, had already come to the view that to maintain their market position in wines required a fresh alternative approach to sourcing. They had already decided that opening direct import channels with a number of export consolidators in key regions [Australia/NZ, Europe ,USA etc.] who were able to garner a number of brands/products exclusively for them would not only consolidate their top ranking in their market but create a highly price efficient opportunity to bring a vast array of products to their stores for the benefit of their consumers choice competitively.
Having been presented with that opportunity, our subsequent proven success over many years lay with developing top down driven strategies coordinated with the most senior executive management thereby ensuring smooth implementation at the category level. Working closely with category executives to build an understanding of their business models and desired result, our company’s skill base extends from the identification, to evaluation, and finally, implementation of plans developed and solidly based on the category data analysis. With the international experience gained over these number of years, our Group activities branched out to begin the direct export of gourmet Thai Foods a handful of years ago. AWC Thai Foods Ltd. is a UK registered company, with a management office in Australia, and an export administrative operation in Thailand, that operates as a Thai Food consolidator exporting directly from Thailand to all markets.

As a consequence, we have been granted access via the Ministry to a vast array of established and successful Thai brands under the 'Thai Select' programme that may not already be exporting widely and which could be usefully available to major international retailers moving forward. The expanding portfolio includes several sub categories of gourmet snacks, desserts, juices, cereals, Thai tea, flavoured coffee, cooking sauces, pastes, seasoning, and ready meals/meal kits from among several hundred Thai brands. Many in the export portfolio are already leading items of highly recognised and top rated brands in the major domestic retail store groups e.g Central, TOPS, D’Mall, Gourmet Market, Villa Market etc. in Thailand. The growing interest in quality Thai retail products globally presents many opportunities for major retailers to broaden their assortment with diverse products of unique flavour at highly competitive prices.
