Babasons

Babasons, also known as Mega Mart, was founded in 1993. It is an importer and distributor of various products and it is owned  by T. Choithram and Sons. Babasons is headquartered in Muharraq, Bahrain. 

Concerning its distribution channels, it has a well-networked distribution centres equipped with a fleet of delivery vehicles. 

It operates 14 stores including 12 Mega Mart and 2 Macro Mart shops. 

Moreover, the company achieves a turnover of €4.6 million. 

Babasons offers a selection of products in the following categories: 

• Savory grocery: bread, pasta, rice, etc.
• Sweet grocery: chocolate, biscuits, candy, etc.
• Frozen: meat, seafood, beef, etc.
• Drinks: soda, water, juice, etc.
• Dairy: cheese, milk, butter, etc.
• Fresh and chilled: fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.
• Household: washing detergents, dishwashing liquid, floor cleaner, etc.

Babasons imports organic fruits and vegetables from Levant, Europe, US and Australia.

In 2014, Babasons signed an exclusive agreement with MENA Holdings Group Ltd, M H Group (Tesco’s exclusive distributor of its private label for the Middle East and North Africa). It is now the only retailer in Bahrain authorized to stock the full range of Tesco private label products. Currently, Mega Mart and Macro Mart carry more than 1500 Tesco products.

Moreover, it is also in compliance with local customs (Halal) as well as HACCP guidelines.

With regards to its logistics, Babasons collaborates with ‘Good taste’ platform to deliver its products. In addition, it manages an extensive warehouse with a massive freezer capacity.
