In 1947, Hilaire Bekaert established his company as "Koekjesfabriek Bekaert".
Started with the production of cakes, waffles and biscuits, he decided to focus
on one type of biscuits: a crispy rolled biscuit.
Nowadays Bekaert still is a family-owned Belgian company based in Wevelgem.
The company exports to 20 countries.
70% of the annual turnover is realised for private label or other manufacturers.
1996: The opening of a second plant for the production of cigarette and almond-cookies.
1997 Introduction of the Bekaert brand.
