Welcome to Biofarmers! It is not so long since the buzzword "organic" stood for a small, alternative eco-scene. Not until the 1990s did it become clear that organic farming offers the chance to contribute to the conservation of our environment and therefore, to our livelihoods. We still remember well a large bakery's advertisement : "1,900 Organic Farmers Wanted". That confirmed our vision: "organic" should be a healthy and affordable alternative for everyone and not a niche product of health food stores. It was obvious that this aim could only be achieved with the aid of innovative technologies, increased professionalisation and expanded areas. The time was favourable: after the reunification great opportunities were provided in East Germany to make the vision of organic farming come true. Nowadays, our farmers produce around 25,000 tons of organic cereals p.a. We can proudly claim a significant contribution to this increase and the social establishment of the organic idea. Furthermore we see great potential in the segment of organic convenience food. We grow organic raw materials such as potatoes, carrots and onions in our organic farms and process them in own organically certified production facilities. So we can - besides potatoes, carrots and onions - offer the food conscious consumer potato pancakes and the dessert speciality "Quarkkäulchen" in organic quality. Regarding the demographic change we produce small and medium-sized portions and appeal thus in particular to one to two person households. With our integrated production approach from the field to the shop we provide the highest reliability for quality.
