The Guyanese Seafood Processing Company (S.A COGUMER) was set up in August 2002, in view of participating in the reorganisation of the fishing industry which had suffered from a major crisis period in the late 1990’s

COGUMER S.A stands out as the main operator for marketing Guyanese traditional fishing produce.
COGUMER S.A is the sole Guyanese processor able to purchase fish from traditional fishing vessels, which ensures the exclusive supply for the whole of the Guyanese coast from Iracoubo to Rémire-Montjoly:
§ COGUMER S.A purchases all of its fresh produce from:
§ 75 inshore vessels – out of a total of 130 registered traditional fishing units – mainly targeting the acoupa weakfish, the green weakfish, the crucifix catfish and other species caught with a gillnet.
§ 19 Venezuelan offshore fishing vessels with European fishing licenses, focusing on the catch of red snapper with bottom-set longlines. COGUMER S.A processes, conditions and commercializes a variety of ocean caught fish and shrimp from french Guyanese waters.
From these raw products, COGUMER has developed a new range of prepared foods which include frozen steaks, balls and nuggets made off fish fillets that are commercialized under trade mark "La Cuisine de Lucette". Today's consumers are more and more conscientious and therefore looking for the best products available.
They spend less ans less time preparing their meals while being attentive to the nutritional qualities of their food. Current trends indicate a return to traditional values, with tastes and flavors of the past that are sometimes complicated to prepare, often due to lack of time!
Through consumer studies, COGUMER has understood all this and, thanks to its industrial and commercial experience, has prepared an evolving range of new products made from wild fish fillets produced by the French Guyanese local fishery, and also Tuna and Mahi Mahi.
These products are in conformity with the recommendations of PNNS and GEMRCN.
They are all natural, without added color and dyes, wihout preservatives and composed of 80% fish fillets!!!
These pre-cooked frozen dishes, are ready for practical and pleasant consumption!!!
