COOP Jednota Slovensko is Slovakia's largest domestic retail chain and a consumer cooperative uniting 30 independent regional consumer cooperatives. Established in 2002 in its current form, the organization operates a network of more than 1,950 stores across Slovakia, serving as both a purchasing, service, and marketing centre for its members and franchisees.

The company operates three retail store formats: COOP Potraviny (small convenience outlets under 200 m²), COOP Supermarket (605 stores ranging from 200 to 500 m²), and COOP Tempo Supermarket (101 larger modern supermarkets). The chain is supported by 9 logistics centres ensuring efficient supply across the country. COOP Jednota combines modern retail innovations—including digital shelf labels, eco-technologies, and serviced counters—with its deep cooperative movement tradition dating back 180 years in Slovakia. 

A defining characteristic of COOP Jednota is its commitment to Slovak food producers and suppliers. The company collaborates with more than 1,300 Slovak suppliers, from small farmers to family bakeries, achieving 70% of sales from Slovak products—the highest share among all retailers in Slovakia. The chain sources 87% of fresh meat, 73% of dairy, and nearly 100% of chicken, milk, eggs, and traditional bryndza domestically. COOP Jednota stores exclusively sell Slovak bryndza and eggs, reinforcing local agricultural support. 

The product assortment spans multiple categories including sweet and savoury groceries, fresh and chilled items, frozen foods, dairy, beverages, household products, and personal care. The company offers private label brands such as Biova (personal care), Perun (household detergents), Coop Unity (dairy products), and Coop Premium (premium selections). Modern supermarket formats include Coop Bistro food corners in urban locations serving hot meals, soups, and grilled dishes, often featuring regional bakers for fresh-baked goods. In 2021, COOP Jednota achieved a turnover of €1.6 billion and employs more than 6,000 workers directly, with the broader cooperative network employing over 14,000 people.
