Founded in 1967 in Italy, Coop Italia is a system of Italian consumers' cooperatives and is currently the largest supermarket chain in Italy. The company functions with around 115 consumers' cooperatives of various sizes and owns 2120 stores across the country.

Coop Italia’s multi-format structure encompasses around 100 hypermarkets and over 1.400 supermarkets, convenience and discount stores.

Coop Italia offers several products under its private label, including (but not limited to):
- Fiorefiore: a range of regional Italian specialties
- Amici Speciali: a brand of pet food
- Crescendo: a line consisting of baby care products
Furthermore, Coop Italia maintains transparency regarding the sourcing of the products as well as all the related conditions. For instance, Coop Italia uses less than 70% pesticides in its fresh fruits and vegetables.
Moreover, Coop Italia abides by the EU Commission's code of conduct.
With regards to the environment, Coop Italia participated in the G20 Agriculture Summit in order to tackle issues of climate change and to take measures towards sustainable business dealings. Furthermore, in 2021, the enterprise installed a seabin that captures wastes, ranging from large materials to microplastics. Moreover, under the Oasi Urbane project, the firm envisages to plant 10,000 trees in ten Italian capitals. Another initiative by Coop Italia is the Coop Youth Experience, wherein the company aims to redevelop 2 green areas.
