Sustainable growth is of key importance and each of the wineries follow sustainable viticulture practices, with the boutique winery of St Roux certified organic.”
Chateau de Berne is one of the leading wine tourism centres in Europe, featuring an award winning 5 star Relais & Chateau Hotel with 27 bedrooms, a Spa and a cookery school. The hotel also offers a Michelin starred restaurant, led by Head Chef Benjamin Collombat, who expertly creates dishes to pair with the estate wines. The Maison offers an unparalleled consumer experience which complements their amazing product offering.
Château de Berne benefits from the perfect amount of sunshine, wind and rain for wine growing. The cool evenings of the inland Haut Var ensure slow and optimal grape ripening. The grape harvest therefore takes place later than on the coast (generally from mid-September onwards). Measuring 330 acres, the Château de Berne terroir is situated on the Triassic Plateau, resting on a chalky bed dating back to the lower and middle Jurassic period.
This mainly chalky terroir, perfect for growing numerous grape varieties, gives the wines their refreshing, mineral taste. Château de Berne regularly uses around ten grape varieties including: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Sémillon, Ugni-Blanc, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Rolle and Mourvèdre.
Passion and quality underpin the philosophy of Château de Berne.
