In the heart of green Irpinia, at the foot of Mount Partenio, famous for Montevergine’s Sanctuary, DG3 Confectionery was born, forerunner of local production of typical sweets.
For 3 generations, the great Sir Nicola Di Gennaro, handed down with great respect for tradition, first to his son Sabino and then to his grandchildren Caroline, Nicola and Adriano, the recipes for Nougat, Chocolate, Crunchy, Pralines, Biscuits and Easter Eggs. They all contributed to create an indissoluble bond between the sweet’s tradition and modernity, and between the ancestor’s wisdom and the ability to innovate of his successors. It all began in postwar period, when sir Di Gennaro started to produce, in Ospedaletto D’Alpinolo, using the local products created the famous “Cupeta”, mixture of honey, egg white and hazelnuts, and be continued manufacturing the “Priest’s Chestnuts”, the “Andrite” avellane hazelnuts. The delicatessen were an instant hit with the pilgrims that reached the Montevergine’s Sanctuary.
As time went by, through the work of Mr. Sabino, Sir Di Gennaro’s son, the structure grew and transformed itself from a simple workshop located at home, to a traditional factory, who allowed future developments, thanks to the intuition and boldness of its owner.
Soon the need of new spaces, the increasing requests of new customers and the innovative ideas of the partnership of Caroline, Nicola and Adriano, created the conditions for the realization of DG3 Confectionery srl. The company is situated on 12000 mq. of land with 5000 mq of covered area and is a very modern industrial complex built in 1998 which is distributed according to its productive needs.
Other investments have been focused on completely automatic machinery for the production of nougat, crunchy, easter eggs and chocolate bars, reaching an excellent productive standard both in quality and quantity. The company is both on the national and the international markets with its trademark “Di Gennaro” and “Montevergine” and produces for the most importants brand, in the respect of the required hygienic sanitary laws and is certificated UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 and IFS Version 5. In this way DG3 Confectionery offers all year round the opportunity to enjoy the refined taste of its delicatessen.
