Chain Stores Fantastico
Fantastico Group is a prominent Bulgarian family-owned retail company, established in 1991 by Valeri Nikolov. The group primarily operates through the Fantastico supermarket chain, which has grown to become one of the leading domestic retailers in the country, competing with international chains.
The chain specializes in foodstuffs, offering a wide assortment of fresh produce, groceries, dairy, meat products, bakery items, and prepared foods. Stores feature modern layouts with in-house bakeries, butcher shops, and culinary sections, alongside household goods. Fantastico emphasizes quality products from Bulgarian and international producers, high-level service, and customer convenience.
As of 2025, Fantastico manages approximately 43 to 47 supermarkets, predominantly in Sofia (43 stores), with additional locations in Bankya, Pernik, Elin Pelin, Kyustendil, Botevgrad, and Kyustendil. The portfolio also includes eight cash and carry hypermarkets and a logistics base in Elin Pelin supporting efficient supply chain operations in Sofia and Western Bulgaria. Recent expansions include a BGN 14 million supermarket in Botevgrad (2021) and a BGN 23 million (EUR 11.76 million) shopping complex in Sofia's Orlandovtsi district (announced 2024), creating nearly 100 jobs each.
Beyond core retail, the group owns SkyCity Mall with over 120 shops offering fashion, perfumery, cosmetics, jewelry, furniture, and electronics; MyChoice Restaurants; MegaXtreme Bowling; JoyStation event center; and Fast&Fit fitness facilities.
