Gomex
Gomex is a Serbian supermarket chain founded in 1997 and headquartered in Zrenjanin, built around an "everyday fresh," neighbourhood convenience-store concept. Over more than two decades it has grown from a local trader into one of the country's most dynamic domestic grocery retailers, and in 2022 a majority stake was acquired by the private-equity investor CEECAT Capital, supporting its continued expansion.
The company operates a large network of around 180 to 200 stores, with an average sales area of roughly 250 m², concentrated in central and eastern Serbia — particularly the Vojvodina region — while steadily expanding into new towns and cities across the country. It employs approximately 2,500 people.
Gomex stores carry a broad everyday assortment of close to 3,000 products, with a strong emphasis on fresh produce, in-store bakery, dairy, chilled and frozen foods, ambient grocery, drinks and household essentials. Larger stores offer extended fresh, bakery and prepared-food sections designed for daily top-up shopping.
The retailer complements leading Serbian and international brands with its own private-label range, giving shoppers value-focused alternatives across core categories, and it operates a loyalty programme to strengthen customer retention.
In 2024 Gomex generated revenue of around 23.4 billion Serbian dinars (roughly €200 million), reflecting continued double-digit growth in recent years. With its dense neighbourhood footprint, fresh-led format and strong presence in central and eastern Serbia, Gomex is an attractive partner for food, beverage and household manufacturers looking to reach Serbian shoppers through the convenience channel.
