Freshippo, known as Hema in Chinese, is a retailer which was established in 2015 by Alibaba Group. It specialises in the distribution of groceries within 30 minutes of checking out. Headquartered in China, Freshippo launched its online app in 2016. 

Its first takeaway store, named Freshippo Takeaway, was opened in 2015 in Pudong, Shanghai. The following year, Freshippo’s supermarket was launched. To this date, the company operates 300 points of sales.

Freshippo has operations in 13 cities countrywide including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing and many more.

Over 20 000 references are provided by Freshippo. 

At present, Freshippo’s products can be found on online platforms such as Tamal and Yiguo and retail chains such as CenturyMart and Auchan.

Products in the following categories are available:

• Chilled & Fresh Food: pork, seafood, poultry, vegetables, etc.
• Frozen Food: seafood, meat, poultry, etc.
• Dairy: milk, eggs and many more

More than 2000 foreign and domestic brands, including Asahi, Okamoto, Swisse, etc, collaborate with Freshippo.

Freshippo offers a variety of products under its private labels which are as follows:

• Difresco: offers seafood and meat
• Freshippo Eatery: offers ready-made items like wontons, etc
• Freshippo OEM & ODM: provides products like tissues, pulses, water, etc

Fresh products are available, under the label Freshippo "Daily Fresh" Products, on a daily basis to ensure that its customers are receiving the best quality of food items.

Moreover, Freshippo On-site Eatery was established for clients to choose their own fresh seafood and have it prepared on-site.

The firm partners with brands, such as Madam Zhu’s Kitchen and Honeymoon Express, to launch dining and express stores

In addition, Freshippo has a renowned brand mascot named Mr. Freshippo which promotes its products and brands countrywide. The enterprise also partners with influencers and bloggers as a marketing strategy.

Freshippo owns several local and international production units. Over 30 countries including Chile, Vietnam, Iceland, and Norway form part of Freshippo’s sourcing network. 

In regards to social welfare, the program Kitchen Hope was established to care for the elderly.
