It was 1882, when in the very center of the World map - between Scandinavia and Europe, Asia and America, in port city - Riga, company named Arnold Sorensen was founded. As one of the main Hanza cities, Riga was popular in the whole Europe as logistics and trade center. In the country with lot of woods and local sea full of silver, dainty size fishes - sprats, an excellent product, using local resourses - wood and fish, was created and named smoked sprats. This product became one of the main export products of Latvia. Nowadays Karavela Ltd is one of the biggest canned fish producers in Europe. Company has reached a significant growth and has continuous plans for future development. Quality control - in-plant quality control programs ensure continuous control for our fish processing lines providing the highest quality products and taste standards. Technological skills -complete knowledge of all aspects of canned fish production and smoking technologies. Company structure includes in-house R&D department (developing both original products and clients ideas). Product range is oriented toward niche products and flexibility. Cans produced per year (2015): 43,3 million; fish processed for chilled fish products: 648t; cold store–capacity 4500t.
