Barony early twenties of the last century, founded in Schiedam by three partners: Barents, Roth and Niewenhuis. A few years earlier, in 1896, the chocolate factory was The Lord already established in Rotterdam. The two factories worked for years separately until 1982 Barony took the Lord. The new name was barony - The Lord. In 1984, the acquisition of Tjoklat followed in Vlaardingen. The Barony - The Lord is located in Rotterdam. Here include the chocolate letters, bars and tablets, cherry chocolates, Easter eggs and peanut rocks made. In 1995 started the construction of a new, modern plant in Belgium Furnes. In May 2009, the Barony group expanded through the acquisition of Continental Chocolate in Amsterdam.

The Barony group currently produces not only its own brands barony and the Lord, but also many brands of supermarkets and department stores. The group has become one of the largest chocolate producers in the Netherlands and Belgium and internationally also plays a prominent role. The Barony group aims to strengthen its position in the future.
