Red Moon

Red Moon® is an umbrella brand for a range of red-fleshed scab resistant apple varieties, developed in France by Jean-Luc Carrieres and the nurseries Escande. The brand is owned by the Red Moon Company, founded by Carrieres, Escande, the Dutch consultant Hans Scholten and the South Tyrolean companies Fratelli Clementi and KIKU Variety Management (BZ).

Red Moon® is completely natural and is filled with valuable nutrients. The red colouring of the flesh comes from so-called anthocyanins, which are organic red pigments that can be found also in other fruits with antioxidative effect. The inner values of the fruits (vitamines, polyphenols and anthocyanins) are far superior to conventional apples. One of the two varieties is even anti-allergenic.

Red Moon® offers a large variety of application and processing possibilities. This is how our red-fleshed apple juice Red Moon® Sparkling was created. The processing of red-fleshed apples results in a multitude of many other great product options, such as chocolate, compote, mousse, smoothie... We would like to point out that we are happy to provide support in this regard as a source of ideas, but without know-how and experience.

Red Moon grows on the soils of selected farmers in Italy. Red Moon is a club variety and therefore not open to every farmer. We focus on growing apples in the most natural way possible because we are talking about a strong and resistant variety. Some of the growers farm the plantations in biodynamic way. It is extremely important for us to think about future generations and this is why we stress the importance of growing in a sustainable way. The farmers cultivate two different varieties that have a different harvest time and have to be stored differently from each other but are very similar when it comes to the red flesh and their nutritional values.
