Designed by Harley Street dermatologist Dr Benedetta Brazzini. Kivu combines science with ancient medicine.

Kivu was created as a response to Dr Brazzini's private client’s needs: simple yet effective skincare products that truly cater to all skin types, even the more challenging ones.

Dr Benedetta and entrepreneur Manuela Gabbai have created a collection of four carefully formulated products that combine ancient traditions with scientific research.

Their goal: combining science with a ‘less is more’ approach to skincare.  

With Helix Aspersa (snail secretion) being the main ingredient used in all Kivu’s products, the brand takes inspiration from Ancient Greek medicine, combining this with 21st-century luxury.

 Helix Aspersa is renowned for its ability to reduce inflammation and deeply hydrate the skin. With popularity traced back to ancient Greece, Helix Aspersa now comes in powder form, and is oudourless. 

Kivu uses certified cruelty free snail secretion produced in Italy at a concentration ranging form 70 to 85%. 

Each product has its own unique formula that includes Helix Aspersa with one other key active ingredient. Kivu Skincare focuses on using core ingredients through each range to provide truly visible, results and glowing skin.

Within Kivu’s products, a high percentage of Helix Aspersa is teamed alongside Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid, Witch Hazel or Bitter Orange Peel Extract to create products that hydrate, firm, anti-age and act as antioxidants. 

Designed in London and formulated in Florence, Italy, classic packaging and effective ingredients combine to make Kivu a must-have for anyone wanting to strip back their routine in 2022.

 All Kivu Skincare’s products are free from: perfumes, parabens, synthetic stabilisers and are non-comedogenic.

Dr Brazzini BIO:

Dr Brazzini consults on all General Dermatology and is an experienced Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatologist with particular interest in acne and acne scarring, rosacea, ageing, melasma and other pigmentation disorders. She has extensive experience in dermal fillers, anti-ageing injectables, laser treatment for skin disorders and chemical peels. She is also one of the few world experts on treating keloids with intralesional cryotherapy.

Dr Brazzini graduated in Medicine at the University of Florence, Italy in 1998 and obtained the degree of specialist in Dermatology and Venereology at the postgraduate school of Dermatology and Venereology in 2002. From 2003 to 2004 she worked as a consultant dermatologist at the Deaprtment of Dermatogogy of the University.

During her training years and early consultant years she attended courses and did fellowships in use of lasers and IPL in dermatology, aesthetic medicine and cosmetic dermatology, photodynamic and sclerotherapy.

Dr. Benedetta Brazzini has been consulting in private practice in both Florence and London, since 2004.

From 2008 to 2020 she worked in the NHS in the Dermatology Departments of Charing Cross, Hammersmith and Ealing Hospitals in London.

From 2008 she also trained as a dermatologic surgeon and performed complex dermatologic surgery and MOHS surgery at Ealing hospital.

She now works in private practice in Florence, London (SK:N clinics and Marylebone clinic) and Farnham.

Dr. Brazzini is a member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the International Society of Dermatology, the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the European Society of Laser and Aesthetic Surgery.

KEY INGREDIENTS 

 Traced back to ancient Greece, Helix Aspersa (also known as Snail ​​Secretion) is renowned for its ability to reduce inflammation and hydrate the skin. Helix Aspersa is odourless, and is packed with Elastin, Collagen, Glycolic Acid, Vitamins and Proteins; making it perfect for treating a variety of skin issues such as visible ageing, sun damage, pigmentation disorders, acne and rosacea. It has also been found to contain antibacterial chemicals, such as glycosaminoglycans and glycosylated proteins, which can facilitate wound healing and repair by preventing bacterial infections and promoting skin regeneration.

Peptides (Acetyl Octapeptide-8, and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5) are short chains of amino acids that serve as building blocks for proteins, like Collagen, Elastin, and Keratin. By adding peptides to your skincare routine, it promotes firmer and younger-looking skin. 

Hyaluronic Acid famously holds up to 1000x its weight in moisture, promoting smooth and radiant skin, effectively showing results on all skin types. 

Witch Hazel contains powerful antioxidant properties that can prevent irritants from entering your skin cells, perfect for calming and repairing the skin. 

Bitter Orange Peel Extract contains plant compounds (Protoalkaloids) with anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties to improve skin health by promoting wound healing and Collagen formation.
