Linella is a 100% Moldovan-owned supermarket chain, founded on October 17, 2001, in Chișinău by three graduates of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. Starting as a small kiosk near the Ciocana market, it has grown into the promoter of modern trade in the Republic of Moldova with the largest geographical coverage across the country.
The chain emphasizes affordable, quality products, particularly fresh produce, with a strong commitment to local producers. Over half of the food products on Linella's shelves are sourced from Moldovan suppliers, including fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, canned goods, pastries, wines, and sausages. Linella also runs ten Fidesco proximity stores acquired two years prior to recent reports. All locations operate seven days a week, often serving as the primary retail option outside the capital. A central distribution center in Chișinău supports operations, with no franchising model.
