Founded in 1858, Macy’s Inc is an American company headquartered in Cincinnati. The company is engaged in retail activities and during its first year of activity, Macy’s achieved a sales of nearly €75000 and has quickly evolved into one of the USA’s biggest retailers. The business has set up offices in Cincinnati, Ohio and New York.

Macy’s Inc employs 130000 persons and the organisation attained a global turnover of almost € 22 billion in 2018.

The company won several awards such as the Corporation of the Year in 2017 by the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council. Macy’s was also ranked as one of the Top 50 Best Companies For Diversity in 2018 by Black Enterprise.

Macy’s - Macy’s has been in existence for 160 years and is recognised as the largest brand of Macy’s Inc. This subsidiary specialises in clothing for women, men and children, fashion accessories, make-up, perfumes as well as household products, which include, kitchen items, furniture, home decor and electronics. There are 641 stores in the US and also has its online store which delivers to 200 locations across the world. Macy’s has partnered with brands like DKNY, Alfani, Nike, Martha Stewart and Gucci.

Bloomingdale’s- Bloomingdale’s focuses on luxury products such as clothing for women, men and children, shoes, accessories and home. The company has partnered with brands such as Aqua, Maje, Theory and Tory Burch. There are 146 stores in the US. In Dubai and Kuwait Al Tayer Group runs Bloomingdale’s stores under a licensed agreement with Macy’s Inc. Bloomingdale’s has an online shop as well.

Bluemercury - Bluemercury has been in operation for 19 years and joined Macy’s Inc in 2015. This subsidiary owns 164 speciality stores across 27 states in the US and also owns its online shop. The company focuses on beauty products and has established 2 brands:

• M-61 - a skincare products brand 

• Lune + Aster Cosmetics - consists of makeup products mainly

Bluemercury also partnered with brands such as African Botanics, By Terry, Clarins, Dermalogica and La Mer. 

Macy’s Inc requires all suppliers to abide by its Vendor & Supplier Code of Conduct which consists of all the strict standards and requirements in order to work with the company. Suppliers are also offered training on this code of conduct and factories are regularly inspected to ensure that they all abide by the rules. 

Macy’s Inc also wishes to reduce wastage and works with sustainable partners. 

Furthermore, the business has also been donating to different causes, Non-profit organisations and institutions. In 2018, Macy’s Inc donated around €46 million. The company also promotes diversity and inclusion.
