Magnum
Magnum is a company specialising in the sale and distribution of pharmaceutical products in the Baltic States. The firm has also entered the dental wholesale sector as well as the veterinary wholesale industry.
Magnum was founded in 1992 in Estonia and now has over 1 million clients and works with over 40 suppliers. Furthermore, the firm also offers non-medicinal products such as supplements as well as medical equipment.
In 2016, the company achieved a turnover of €356 million and currently, Magnum employs more than 1000 persons. The company owns offices in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.
In 1993, the firm entered the dental wholesale business. Magnum bought Zoovetvaru, a company involved in the wholesale of veterinary products in 1998. A year later, the company acquired Sia Pharma Service Riga.
In 2000, Magnum opened its first pharmacy in Estonia under the name Apotheka. After a year, the company created an automatic ordering system. Magnum’s veterinary wholesale business grew in 2002 when the firm launched 2 veterinary subsidiaries in Lithuania and Latvia.
In 2003, Magnum bought the company Parimex Invest and thus took over the 58 pharmacies which were rebranded under the name Apotheka, marking the company’s venture in the pharmaceutical retail business in Estonia.
In 2004, Magnum launched a subsidiary in Finland and in 2005, the company opened its first pharmacy in Latvia under the name Aptiekas.
The company bought the LAVC, a veterinary wholesale business in Lithuania in 2007.
In 2010, Magnum launched its private label and introduced the concept of the online pharmacy in Estonia in 2013 and 2 years later the firm launched its online pharmacy in Latvia.
Magnum also introduced a loyalty program in 2014. The company also launched several drugstores in Estonia and Latvia. In 2016, the company introduced iluteek, an online shop dealing in the sale of pharmacy cosmetics. During that year, Pet City OU became a part of Magnum.
Magnum introduced the video pharmacist solution in 2017.
Magnum also owns 2 logistics centres: a 4200 m2 logistics centre in Latvia and a warehouse of 9000m2 in Estonia. The Estonian logistics centre awarded the title ‘Logistics Act of Year 2008’ and this centre is also considered to be the most modern logistics centre in Central and Eastern Europe.
