The sweet success story of Maintal Konfitüren starts in 1886. At that time Josef Müller jun. founded a wholesale for “Vegetabilien und Landesprodukte” in the Frankonian Haßfurt and first he basically traded with tea, herbs, dried fruit and rosehip pits. Today, 125 years later Maintal Konfitüren GmbH is one of the oldest and most traditional preserve companies in Germany. Since 1999 the fourth generation (Anne Feulner and Klaus Hammelbacher) manages the company.

More nature, more indulgence: Maintal Organic Preserves
Rosehip, Ginger, Cherry, Apricot, Sloe, Quince and much more are playing a major role for 125 years at Maintal. Besides Rosehip Preserve, Maintal offers a wide variety of fine jellies and first class preserves. As specialist for healthy and high quality products made from fruits, the company Maintal started early with the production of organic preserves. These are sold with huge success among the brand “Annes Feinste” in organic shops. Even the conventional food retail trade is meanwhile supplied with organic preserves among the brand “Maintal-Bio”.

“Annes Feinste” Preserves are leading the product range of Maintal at BioFach 2011 in Nuremberg. This new line offers exclusive indulgence for nutrition-conscious people with high expectations to fruit typical taste and consistency: 75 % fruit content in our products grant all this. The smooth fruit spreads are only sweetened with natural agaves syrup. The organic fruit spreads are available in the flavours strawberry, raspberry, apricot and sour cherry and are produced vitamin-preserving with “Naturland” certified sun ripened fruits.
Healthy indulgence by experience
Very often fruits are - whether fresh or processed as preserve - the main base for the uptake of natural vitamins and secondary metabolites. All fruit of our organic preserves and organic jellies ripen from blossom to harvest without pesticides and chemical fertilizers according to the “Bio-Siegel” stipulations (The Organic food Labelling Act is the legal basis for the Bio-Siegel. It refers to the requirements stipulated in the EU Regulation on Organic Farming). That’s how they develop their full aroma. They are harvested at the peak of the ripening process, so only wholesome and undamaged pulp is used. As a sweetener we use sugar, apple syrup or agaves syrup, of course also organically farmed. The production of fruits to preserve happens in small cooking charges to reach the best product protection. At a 60º C vacuum excess water is withdrawn and the preserve thickened to the necessary texture. Boiled on low temperatures we preserve fruit pieces, vitamins and other valuable metabolites.
Responsibility, carefulness and experience
Every step of production is made with highest possible care and we have high demands on the products and functions of our component supplier. The gentle preparation guarantees high quality and a unique taste. Maintal thinks and acts with major responsibility to the environment, a guideline deep seated in the business philosophy. The environment engagement is diversified widely: Since 2010 Maintal purchases green electricity from wind energy plants of the region to 100 percent. Besides the company endowed adequate roofs on the area with photovoltaic systems. Even the water demand currently falls because of investment by rising lot size. Currently there are projects for heat recovery and the adjustment of the electrical power supply from fossil burning to renewable raw material. With all these efforts it is clear, that Maintal even militates against genetic engineering.
Maintal-Konfitüren is a midsize family company in Franconian Haßfurt – in the middle of the natural park “Haßberge”. Due to the company structure it is possible to guarantee industrial standards as well as the production of small units for private brands. We can individually customize in regard of fruit content, sweetener (organic sugar, agaves syrup), and other demands.
