Matrade

MATRADE is Malaysia's National Trade Promotion Organisation (TPO) recognised by the WTO. It is an award-winning TPO with 49 offices globally. MATRADE bridges global buyers with Malaysian suppliers and collaborates with various global private and public entities in the area of trade development, with a strong focus in sustainability.

Malaysia is committed to addressing plastic pollution through initiatives like the "Malaysia's Roadmap Towards Zero Single-Use Plastics 2018-2030." This plan outlines strategies to reduce single-use plastics and promote sustainable alternatives. The government is also pushing for a circular economy, with the "Malaysia Plastics Sustainability Roadmap 2021-2030" focusing on increasing recyclability and recycled content in plastic packaging. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a key focus, with Malaysia moving towards a mandatory EPR scheme for packaging by 2026. This means producers will be increasingly responsible for the lifecycle of their packaging.
