Mendes Gonçalves wants to be a reference for the future in the food industry, with profitability, demand and a positive impact on our people, society and the environment. 

Innovation is in our DNA. That is why we created a R&D department 15 years ago and why we are one of the first food industry companies in Portugal that obtained certification in this area. Our constant quest to do things differently gave rise to the recent creation of the Future Centre, a team entirely focused on exploring our relationship with the world without worrying about day-to-day tasks.

We develop global solutions focused on the customers’ needs (formulas, packaging, quantities), with a very short time to market. We have launched 150 new formulas on the market over the last 3 years.

At Casa Mendes Gonçalves we take a holistic perspective of packaging by defining environmental targets for each specific project, such as climate-change mitigation and littering. We integrate Ecodesign procedures into our management process, applying to each project one or more of the following Ecodesign strategies: 1 - Optimised Resource Use Reduce the necessary amount of natural resources to produce packaging 2 - Design to prevent Littering Design packaging in ways that avoid or prevent littering Communicate clear instructions regarding the disposal of packaging. 3 - Sustainable Sourcing Reduce the use of natural non-renewable resources Increase the use of sustainable, renewable resources. 4 - Design for Recyclability Design packaging with its end-of-life in mind, optimising it for the recycling systems in place and for high-quality recycling.
